Recomendations from members

“I am so proud to be a member of ESP.   I have found some wonderful parents who appreciate what it's like to have a child with special needs.   We appreciate all those wonderful milestones that others take for granted, and when times are tough we offer a friendly ear and words of encouragement.  We also find time to have a little fun too with the games and quizzes.  I have made some wonderful friends on ESP who I'd like to think I shall have for life (whether they like it or not!)” - Terri, 34, Poole, Dorset

"its great to have people who understand what its like to have children with special needs. to talk about the simplest things that others just wouldn't understand, and to know that they are all there when I need them too. There is always someone with a bit of useful experience or advice and I have some great friends on ESP” - Nikki, 30, Norwich, Norfolk

“ESP is a wonderful site full of Extra Special People............We support each other through good times & bad “ - Marion Grindlay, 36, West Calder, Scotland

“ESP is like my second family...the love, support and friendship is truly warming, and I know its a safe little haven for me to talk about my son’s conditions.” - Emma, 29, Basildon, Essex

“ESP has opened the floodgates onto an entire world that, I originally suspected, only I inhabited.  An ideal way in which to meet others grappling with the struggles of Extra Special care, providing an abundance of information, support and sympathy and much needed light relief.” - Rachel, 33, Spain..

" Before joining ESP Kids, I didn't know where to turn to and ask for help. I realised lots of children have special needs or have problems and that I’m not alone in the world. Everyone is so understanding and so supportive. Now I know there are other people out there who need help and people that can help you. I would recommend this forum to any child with special needs, its great!" - Chanin-Anezina-Peeke, 13, Kent Diagnosed with ADHD, Kent

Extra Special Parents was established in January 2006 by Graham Brockie and Debbi Robertson because their daughter was born with Imperforate Anus. They wanted to talk to other parents who would understand their worries. Graham and Debbi soon realised that many other parents and carers probably felt as isolated and bewildered as they did, and so they decided to set up ESP. They decided to include the entire spectrum of additional needs as they realised that many needs are not sufficiently supported online.

Extra Special Parents features a very user-friendly forum for parents and carers of children with all kinds of additional needs, regardless of the severity of those needs. The ESP Forum is a place where YOU can talk to other parents and carers of children with similar conditions, as well as being somewhere to “get away from it all” for a while. The ESP Forum has a comprehensive information section dealing with benefits and other sources of financial assistance, contact details for charities specialising in various conditions and local groups and organisations.

ESP Kids was established in January 2007 as a place for children who have additional needs themselves, and also for their siblings. It’s a place for them to talk to others who understand how they feel and what they have to cope with in their daily lives, where they won’t be teased, bullied or intimidated. ESP Kids is also a safe place for them to play games and find fun, child-friendly things to do and see on the internet .ESP Kids is monitored regularly by adult moderators and administrators. New members are moderated to ensure your child is always safe at ESP Kids.
